Westone Thunder 1A bass made in the well known Matsumoku factory in Japan. It has the ''bird'' style Westone logo on the headstock and the neckplate is stamped ''made in Japan''.
The body is made from ash, maple and walnut and the bolt on neck is three ply maple. The 20 fret fingerboard is rosewood with a brass nut, and the overall scale is 34 inches. The headstock holds the two on a side Westone tuners which are of a very good quality.
The pickup is a split coil model and there are volume and tone controls. This is a passive/active bass, so there is an on/off switch to operate this, also with tone control knob marked on the top B-O-T giving further treble and bass controls. The preamp was not working when I obtained this bass so a preamp has been specially made - the same as that used on a Music Man Stingray bass and this only requires one nine volt battery to operate it as opposed to the usual two batteries. This works equally as well as the original preamp as is very efficient.
Its a lovely bass in great condition and is very playable.
