Up for sale GML Dynamic Gain Control Series II, precursor to the GML 8900. Received this along with the power supply from a private auction.
It is serial number 4, one of the earliest prototypes before the GML 8900.
functionally, it's some of the same detection ideas as the one you worked on. complex limiter, so you have rms detection and peak, for compress & limit functions. the controls work differently, but pushing/pulling a control line with variable attack/release time constants & complex detection, all along the same lines."
I do not have the 5 pin XLR so the unit is untested. I have no way to check if it powers on or is working. What I can see is a few of the screws from the top panel are missing, a few of the black gaskets to hold the LED lights are missing, and the adhesive material holding the VU meters has dried out. There are scratches on the metal chassis as well.
Perhaps the unit is working or needs a simple fix.
SOLD AS IS no returns.

Here is a direct quote from designer and engineer Ron Pendragon. The head of engineering in my building worked at GML for 8 years and reached out to Ron to learn more about this particular model.
"so i have a later one. it's in my primary record chain, and you hear it all over tracks i record. i like the way the early ones sound, for some reason... #1004 was one of the second-run prototypes, done after we had put a slug of those same cards in the PA system, post xover limiters for that stereo 5-way ghetto blaster. later, decided to repackage & sell it as a rack comp-limiter for GML. i believe the complex bought some from George, but the design & build was for GML/Nova & Nova was just a Complex thing that disintegrated when they sold off. documentation all went back to GML.functionally, it's some of the same detection ideas as the one you worked on. complex limiter, so you have rms detection and peak, for compress & limit functions. the controls work differently, but pushing/pulling a control line with variable attack/release time constants & complex detection, all along the same lines."
