Gibson L-5 tailpiece silver medallion inserts Replica L5

Price is for ONE tailpiece insert. The complete tailpiece in the last image is shown for reference only, but not for sale. Just the silver part !

The reason I made these, is that I had two genuine vintage Gibson L-5 guitars, that both were lacking the medallion bagde insert in the middle of the tailpiece... So I made this replica of the badge in brass, and then had it heavy duty silver plated. It is not painted wood or other cheapo stuff or so. It is Solid brass, professionally plated real silver on top. Just like the genuine item would be. Please understand though, that this is not a genuine Gibson item, but a handmade replica that I designed and made with a befriended machinist.

I made a few extras as I went along, so am selling the ones I have left over. After they are sold, they are gone forever. So if you need one to restore your beloved L-5’s tail, now is the time to hit the buy-it-now button. You snooze, you loose !

The size and engraving were copied from my personal 1960 original L-5cesn. Different years might have different styles of the engraving, but I only made these.

Please note that there are no screwthreads or similar on the back. The back is flat, see pics. So you will need to glue this onto your tailpiece with metal glue or similar bonding. I know that different year/style of the tail have a different mounting. so look at the pics first, and see if it matches your tail.

Please remind that I am not a shop just a private person. I did not make large quantities, I just made enough to use up all brass sheet material we had to buy. When you think the price is high, please understand this was not a cheap project. The costs reflect the actual costs that I have into it for the material, scanning, machining, engraving. And especially the heavy duty silver plating was very costly. (my own hours or other expenses were not charged, as it was a labor of love).
