Westone Thunder 1A electric guitar made in the Matsumoku factory in Japan in 1982; so this is an early Westone guitar and is actually version 2 of this model.
The body is laminated ash, maple and walnut and looks fabulous with all the grain showing - and the neck is maple. The neck is bolted on and has a rosewood 22 fret fingerboard and a scale of 24.75 inches. The headstock has the ''Westone'' logo and Westone tuners plus the serial number stamped in the back of it; and the ''Thunder 1A'' logo on the truss rod cover.
The two pickups are open humbuckers - HF450's with a three-way pickup selector switch and master volume, passive tone and active equalizer tone. The micro switches are coil tap, active on and off, and phase in and out - so this guitar has plenty of variety available. The active side is worked through two nine volt batteries kept in a compartment in the back of the body.
The knobs, nut and bridge/tailpiece are all in brass and the bridge has through stringing.
This guitar is in exceptional condition with merely a few tiny marks showing, and it plays as it looks. It comes in a fitted period hardcase which is actually an old Vox case.
