Schoeps M221F pair with Telefunken AC701K tube - 1962 - M221B - very rare

Beautiful pair of vintage and very rare Schoeps M221F from the RTF - Radio & Television Française (French Tv and Radio pre ORTF) - 1962 - both in perfect working condition. Not a consecutive serial number pair but they have the same electonics, same components and sounds unhesitatingly identical to my ears.

Electronic is stock, mics are full original and unmodified.

These Schoeps M221F came with :

- 2 x Telefunken AC701K red dot tubes - K for Klingarm = low microphonics, selected tube for microphones far better than the no K

- 2 x Schoeps M934 capsules, polar pattern can be switched between omni and cardioid

- 2 x very rare Schoeps phase ring = for best possible cardioid specifications always equip the M 934 with the enclosed plastic baffle (phase ring) but remove it for best performance in the omni position

- 2 x Haufe A.925 audio transformers

- 1 x custom made regulated and dead silent ramped double power supply in original Schoeps Ela M221F metal box - Can also work with one mic only - Excellent noise and interference rejection This power supply provides the necessary voltage of 4V for the AC701K tube filament and 120V operation voltage. The microphone voltage are stabilized and strongly filtered for a clean and disturbance free audio signal. When turning on the supply the tubes filament voltage rises very slowly to protect the tubes from a high turning-on current. 

- 2 x new Mogami tube cables with very rare Sogies connectors and new Neutrik 5 pins connectors - 20 feet each

- 2 x Schoeps original wood boxes marked "Made in Western Germany"

M221F is the same circuit than M221B, the F is a 221B french version only for the change of the Sogie connector at the bottom of the mic rather than the Tuchel/Lumberg. You will find a Sogie connector on all the RTF & ORTF microphones like Neumann M367, Neumann U397, Neumann U497, Beyer M160, Beyer M88...

Their physical condition is very good, especially for the fact that they are about 50 years old. Everything is unmodified, one of them have some little scratches on the body. They sound amazing, very 3D and extremely quiet. M221 is the Holy Grail of small diaphragm condenser mics, the ultimate recording tool for capturing the sound of acoustic instruments. You'll love using them. Rich and woody... great on most everything you throw at them. I don't think you're likely to find a better pair anytime soon.
