The neck has a chunky C profile that is moderately deep at the nut and grows significantly deeper to full "baseball bat" territory in the upper registers. The deep cutaways allow easy access to the highest frets on the guitar, with the glued in neck (like a Gibson) joining the body at the 17th fret! The back of the neck has the original black lacquer bursting, unique to Fenton Weill guitars, and the original frets are in fantastic shape, showing only light wear down near the nut and virtually no wear up the neck. On the headstock, the stock tuning machines turn smoothly and the "Amazon" label is intact along with most of the fragile "Made in England" sticker.
The body has some of the most elegant and Art Deco styling we've ever seen on a guitar, evoking the Bigsby instruments of the '50s in some ways, but decidedly British in the overall look. The guitar is complete with the original chrome vibrato unit, two-tiered pickguard, stock knobs and carved floating rosewood bridge. All of the electronics work as they should and this guitar is notable for having a stock 1/8" input jack, requiring either an adapter for a typical 1/4" cable, or use of the included 1/8" to 1/4" cable. All of the hardware is particularly clean, with the minor exception of a chip in the tone knob which is also missing its gold cap. The nitro lacquer finish on the body has gorgeous, fine finish checking across the entire instrument, with almost no other notable finish wear of any kind. The instrument is almost completely devoid of the nicks and other light finish wear usually seen on vintage instruments. On the back of the lower bout bass side body contour, there is a few small black markings on top of the finish, conceivably where the guitar rubbed against the case, but even this is very minor and easily overlooked. This is a surprisingly clean and extremely well cared for instrument!
The original black hardshell case is included and is particularly clean, with leather ends that show little wear and a nearly flawless interior with locking case pocket.
