Marlin Slammer bass from 1980 for sale at GUITAR GARAGE LONDON! These
are quite rare to come buy, especially in this perfect fully original
condition. The only part that is currently missing is the thumbrest
(there are still two holes for it in the pickguard and body), but these
are universal and very cheap to get. Everything else is intact, exactly
how it was built in 1980, including all original pickups, volume and
tone pots (no crackling), vintage capacitors, tuners and strap buttons.
These
were built in Germany till 1986, then the production of Marlin was
moved to Korea and the quality dropped significantly. Only the best
solid tone woods were chosen for the original German Marlins, the one on
sale also has a beautiful flamed North-American maple neck. Rare
opportunity to get a real vintage instrument without breaking the bank -
the wood has dried out and sunk over 36 years, releasing all the
resonance and depth, making this bass a true pleasure to play. This will
blow all of the Squiers away!
Wide palette of sounds thanks to
the tone knob, smooth tuners with stable tuning, neck is chunky and
straight as an arrow, with plenty of fret life and a cool Marlin inlay
on the 12th fret. Contoured heavy Alder body, high mass chrome bridge
with fully-adjustable barrel-saddles and very convenient truss-rod
adjustment near the heal of the neck.
This instrument received a full professional setup
(worth
£45) with deep body cleansing, body polish and carnauba wax, neck deep
clean, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation
adjustment. Restringed with Rotosound 45-100 nickel-plated steel
strings. No
buzzing or choking or dead-spots, no electronics problems. Ready for
touring and recording straight away!
