Vintage 1950 Martin D-18 Acoustic Guitar w/Hardshell Case

The Martin D-18 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar of the 1950s stood between the golden age of the company's instruments and the designs of the future, making it a last bastion of old-school construction. Crisper and more pronounced than its D-28 counterpart, the D-18 was used by the likes of Elvis for its ability to project.

This is a 1950 Martin D-18 with some work done to get it back in playing shape. The top has a crack (arrows indicate where in pic) that has now been kept from getting worse with some needed humidification. The pickguard has swollen and faded and left the wood exposed to dry and crack. Our luthier has done his magic and clamped it back together. There are noticeable scuffs and dents in the wood on the top, back & sides. In ‘96 Martin repaired and replaced the entire fretboard, and replaced the bridge. The paperwork is included with the non-original case. All in all this is the ultimate Bluegrass guitar! A tone that sings!
