We are very blessed with some excellent classic bits of Bass gear right now, and this Washburn is no exception. It’s looks to be an either late 70’s or early 80’s wing series vulture bass, which were made in Japan to a very high standard.

I’ve done my best to track down the year and researched the model, however the first digit of the serial number is a little worn away. Research shows this model ran from around 1978 to 1982. The previous owner believed it to be from 1980.

It’s a through neck with a double cut and single p style pickup. An extremely chunky bridge and sturdy old machineheads complete the package. Soundwise, think deep growling classic p tones, perfect for blues, reggae and pounding rock sounds. It plays extremely well currently with a lovely low action.

The condition is what you’d expect from over 30 years of use, with the battle scars (have pictured some of the worst) earned from life on the road. The fret work is excellent and the frets have plenty of life left in them.

The electronics sound great, pots are smooth for the age and not too scratchy.

All in all a cracking bass, and a great example of an extremely playable vintage bass that will turn heads and not break the bank.

We’d absolutely love for you to come give it a play if you’re in the area (we are based in Walsall in the West Midlands)

Likewise we ship with UPS, and that’s in the U.K. and also to our EU friends.
