Burns TR2 bass 1963/4.
This was the first ever active bass, and ingenious invention by Jim Burns but not commercially viable as it was so complex and not too succesful at the time as the operating batteries only lasted for a short time, so most of these that still exist were converted to passive only as is this one. Very few were ever made so they are incredibly rare.
It is semi solid - with a centre block and the body, soundholes and neck are fully bound - all in great condition and the neck is bolted on. The colour was originally a red sunburst as can be seen on the back, but the front has faded hich was very common. It now has volume and tone controls and a three-way selector switch and is a very nice bass to play.
Try something a bit different!!
