1965 JMI Vox AC30 Top Boost amp (original, fully operational, WODEN transformers)

What would the history of music be without the VOX AC30 amplifiers from the Jennings Musical Industries era? Any guitarist who has experienced just how inspiring an amplifier can be knows that a huge number of great songs would never have been created without VOX AC30 amplifiers!

And here is an extremely rare opportunity to own THAT sound!

For sale: a VOX AC30/6 JMI Top Boost amplifier chassis from one of the two best production years of all time.

Why the best?

Because it features:

1) The famous Woden transformers, which produce an unmistakable sound. Albion transformers and later models lack that extra spark provided by the higher harmonics found in the Woden transformers.

2) It still features a GZ34 rectifier tube, which enhances the amp’s musicality and dynamics, making the sound beautifully compressed and smooth—like warm mulled wine on a frosty evening.

3) It features an integrated Top Boost on the main panel, which adds clarity, breathing room, transparency, and a dynamic kick to the sound.

4) It was built not only using point-to-point wiring but, above all, incorporating Wima and “yellow mustard” capacitors—which have an excellent effect on the sound—as well as large carbon resistors.

The amplifier is in full working order. All channels sound exactly as they should at their best—clean, dynamic, with a beautiful crunch at higher volumes. The tubes from the 1970s are in very good condition. The transformers are original and have not been rewound. Only a few minor components were replaced to ensure the amplifier functions properly—components that had simply worn out over 60 years of use.

International shipping of the amplifier with insurance is available. The chassis and tubes will be professionally secured.
