Fire Hose Strap

From the small mountain town of Julian, CA, Fire Hose Strap founder Rob Jones spent a lot of time at the local volunteer fire house where his dad was a captain for 21 years. Being a bass player and a bit of a gear snob, Rob built the first Fire Hose Strap out of necessity, wanting a more sturdy and wider strap to support an 11 pound piece of timber masquerading as a bass.

After a year of sourcing hose and testing with San Diego musicians, Rob’s mind was made up and Fire Hose Strap was born in 2014…. almost. Through sheer coincidence, local leather craftsman Ryan Berry was a new client at Rob’s other company and they got to talking about this crazy product idea. Rob shared his prototype with Ryan and a week later, Ryan returned with a way more usable and attractive hand sewn guitar strap. Hours of love and labor had gone into this beast of a strap and more product testing was done in the studio and with the band.

Two dozen prototype straps were built for NAMM 2017 and showcased at the Darkglass Electronics booth. Fire Hose Strap garnered generous praise for both functionality and creative repurposed use of material. The guitar straps are comfortable, individually unique, upcycled and musicians really appreciated the limited availability and high quality craftsmanship.

The core tenet of Fire Hose Strap is to keep all facets of the company as local as possible and all components to be made in North America. The hoses are all made in the USA or Canada, the leather is sourced from a San Diego leather supplier and laser cut and engraved locally. Even the industrial Singer sewing machines used to assemble the straps are made in America. With pride and gratitude, Fire Hose Strap hopes to be your favorite accessory for your guitar or bass.
