How to Earn Badges as a Seller on Reverb

One of the best ways to help your Reverb shop stand out is to have one or more of our seller badges. These tell potential buyers that you are an experienced seller with a track record of great service, which ultimately leads to more sales on your end.

While it helps to earn and maintain a five-star seller rating on Reverb, the badges go a step further in highlighting specific things that you do well. Whereas your star rating shows what other users think of the experience you provided, the badges let users know that the Reverb team has seen and verified your good customer service.

Your Reverb shop can earn up to three different badges: Quick Responder, Quick Shipper, and Preferred Seller. A five-star rating paired with this trio of badges will put your shop out in front when buyers are choosing who to purchase from.

Here’s a look at what it takes to earn each of these badges and how they impact your business.

Quick Responder

As the name suggests, this badge tells others that you quickly respond to messages and offers on Reverb. They can expect a reply from you in a matter of hours, not days.

How You Earn It:

  • Respond to at least five offers.
  • Respond to offers within 12 hours on average.
  • Respond to messages within 16 hours on average.

Why You Want It:

  • Buyers are more likely to start a conversation or make an offer that leads to a sale when they know you’ll get back to them quickly.
  • Reverb is a 24/7, global operation. Buyers seek out sellers who are ready to do business, regardless of their time zone or the day of the week.

Quick Shipper

You guessed it: This badge tells buyers that you consistently get packages out the door within 24 hours of payment clearing.

How You Earn It:

  • Have at least 3 orders shipped within the past 90 days.
  • On average, ship items within 24 hours after payment clears. For this metric, Reverb considers an item "shipped" when the tracking number is uploaded.

Why You Want It:

  • Having this badge positively impacts your Seller Quality Score, which is an internal metric that Reverb uses to help highlight sellers with excellent customer service in search results. For example, if someone searches for an Emerson EM-Drive and there are four sellers that have it, the one(s) with the higher Seller Quality Score will appear at the top of the results.
  • Qualifies you to offer 2-day shipping.
  • People want their gear sooner rather than later. If they have a choice, buyers are going to go with the seller that is a reliably quick shipper.

Preferred Seller

The Reverb Preferred Seller program recognizes sellers that have established a solid track record on Reverb. For sellers, it’s a free program that provides a special set of benefits once you meet requirements, like maintaining an average feedback rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. For buyers, the Reverb Preferred Seller badge signals sellers that have demonstrated that they provide great service.

We’re currently taking some time to review and evolve the program, so we’re not accepting new sellers at this time. If you’re currently a Reverb Preferred Seller, you’ll remain in the program as long as you continue to meet the requirements.

If you plan to sell through your Reverb shop more than just once in a blue moon, it pays to strive for these badges. It’s particularly important if you sell new inventory or popular items that many other sellers also offer. In those cases, buyers already know what they going to get in terms of gear. They don’t want to be left wondering what they’re going to get in terms of customer service.

The good news is that it doesn’t take long to earn these badges. Within weeks of setting up your shop, it’s possible to have all three displayed next to your name. From there on out, it’s just about living up to the expectations buyers have when they see those badges.

Yes, you can lose badges after they’re earned if you slip below the minimum requirements for any of them. But they can be re-earned as many times as needed whenever you step up and hit the criteria again.

If you’re curious what you still need to do to get there, click on your profile icon in the upper right corner of the site and click "Dashboard" from the drop-down menu. That screen will show your Badge Status at the top and what you need to do to earn any missing badges. Go get 'em!
