Guild Starfire VI 1968 Cherry

Reverb Estimated Used Price Range

  • $2,365$3,290

Just as Guild made the Starfire V as an upgrade to the Starfire IV, the Starfire VI was an upgraded version of the Starfire V.  In addition to a Bigsby tailpiece and master volume knob of the Starfire V, the VI also offered an Ebony fingerboard with Pearl inlays and fancier styling on the headstock.  While the Starfire series of semi-hollowbodies are considered fine instruments and were adopted by some players at the time, they are of far less interest to collectors than their Gibson equivalents.

Years of Production: 1964 - 1979

Body Style: Double cutaway semi-hollowbody

Wood Composition:  Laminated Maple or Mahogany body, three-piece Maple/Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard

Design Elements: Two humbucker pickups, chrome-plated hardware, Guild Bigsby tremolo tailpiece, four control knobs and master volume knob, Pearl block inlays

Notable Starfire Players: Buddy Guy, Lightening Hopkins, Jerry Garcia
