Also known as the Southerner Jumbo, Southern Jumbo, and Country-Western (for the natural top version), the Gibson SJ experienced a number of design changes during its run. Starting in late 1962, a change was made from a round-shoulder to square-shoulder body. In 1971, the scale-length was changed from 24 3/4 to 25 1/2-inch. Also in 1971, Gibson began using double-X bracing on this model. (Note: Pictured bridge is non-original)
