The Gibson Super 400 was launched in 1934 as the biggest and highest-end archtop of the Gibson line. The electric Super 400 CES followed in 1951 and remained Gibson's flagship archtop guitar for decades. There have been several variations and reissues produced since. From 1974 till 1981, this model was produced with the neck volute often seen on Norlin-era Gibsons.
