As part of the Martin 18 series, the 00-18 used Mahogany for its back and sides (though examples from prior to 1917 used Rosewood). Like other orchestra or auditorium-sized Martins, the 00-18 is considered an excellent finger-style guitar. The 00-18 changed from 12 to 14 clear of the body in 1933 and 1934, which also brought an update to the body shape.

Years of Production: 1898 - 1995

Unique to this Era: Martin changes from scalloped to heavier non-scalloped bracing in 1944.  Also beginning of change from Adirondack to Sitka spruce tops.

Design Elements: Unbound fingerboard, 14-frets (clear of body), 9-ring soundhole rosette, dot inlays, rounded belly bridge
