Founded in the early 1900s in the city of Tallinn, Estonia, Paiste is a family-owned cymbal company. Since 1957, manufacturing of all professional-grade models has taken place in Switzerland. With the introductions of game-changing series like 602, Giant Beat, 2002 and RUDE, Paiste's adaptations to the changing musical landscape have cemented their legacy as champions of experimentation and innovation

Introduced in 1959, the Formula 602 series was Paiste's first foray into the use of B20 Bronze alloy. The series brought with it lasting innovations such as the Sound Edge hi-hat and Flatride, which would go on to become industry standard cymbal designs.

The 18" Medium Ride is a favorite among jazz drummers, as its glassy ping and shimmering wash give it excellent articulation without becoming overpowering. The 18" model is somewhat brighter than its larger countarparts, is better suited to crashing, and has a breathy sustain.

Note: Because of their comparatively light weight by modern standards, these cymbals will often be sold described as crashes, crash/rides, or light rides. Though it can be difficult to distinguish between the 18" Formula 602 Medium and Medium Ride, the 18" Medium Ride typically weighs between 1700-1900 grams.
