Also known as the Bluegrass Special, the Guild D-50 debuted in 1963 with Rosewood back and sides, a three-piece mahogany neck, and a 25 1/2-inch scale length. Like many American-made acoustic guitars, a turning point came in towards the end of the '60s when a switch was made from Brazilian to Indian Rosewood.
