Retro Instruments founder Phil Moore has been repairing and restoring vintage Gates Sta-Levels for decades. The lessons learned throughout that time led him to manufacturing his own version of the classic tube limiter.
The Retro Instruments Sta-Level stays very true to the original while adding a few new features. XLR connectors for I/O replace terminal blocks on the vintage units, and more readily-available tubes are used, but the user still has the option of using a 6386 with a provided socket. Interesting textures can be achieved by using the 6386 alongside the pre-installed 6BA6 tubes. The Retro version also sports additional recovery times and a three way timing multiplier/modifier.
Two units can be coupled for stereo.
