Reverb Estimated Used Price Range

  • $445$760

Perhaps the most recorded snare drum in rock, Ludwig Supraphonic is prized for its crisp, bright attack and clarity. The 6.5x14" Aluminum-shelled "LM402" model from the 1970s is arguably the most sought-after incarnation, primarily due to its use by legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. The 1970s versions feature the iconic pointy "Blue and Olive" badge.

Note: due to the tendency of aluminum-shell Supraphonics to develop pitting and flaking in the chrome finish, prices can vary widely based on condition.

Years of production: 1958-present

Composition: Single-piece beaded aluminum shell

Finish: Polished chrome

Notable players: John Bonham, Ian Paice, Nicko McBrain, Alex Van Halen
