The Taylor 700 Series began as a highly appointed, more traditional design by pairing Indian Rosewood back and sides with a Sitka Spruce top. Other appointments include unique ablaone fingerboard inlays, abalone rosette and headstock logo, which debuted after 1994. In 1998, the 700 Series began featuring Wester Red Cedar tops in place of Spruce.

The Taylor 710 was one of the first dreadnought models made by the company.
