Taylor's 400 Series features all solid wood construction, with most pre-1998 models featuring a Sitka Spruce top with solid Mahogany back and sides. After 1998, the 400 Series featured Ovangkol (sometimes spelled Ovankol) back and sides instead of Mahogany. Some special edition models experimented with Maple back and sides in the '90s.
The Taylor 410 is the basic dreadnought offering within the 400 Series. In 1994, a pearl headstock logo was introduced.
