Ever since Fender released the Eric Clapton Stratocaster in 1987, the Signature Series has grown to include a wide array of artists and models built both in the US and Mexico.
The Eric Johnson Stratocaster is based on 1957 specs, with an Alder body and Maple fingerboard that uses a custom V profile neck. It includes three custom Eric Johnson single coil pickups. It does not come with a back cover, as Eric feels this affects the resonance of the wood. It is available in two-tone sunburst, candy apple red, black or white blonde.
In 2009 Fender began offering the model with a Rosewood fingerboard under the Eric Johnson RW Stratocaster moniker.
