The Marauder is one of several models Gibson introduced in the '70s to try to get in on the lower-end guitar market dominated by Fender and Japanese makers. Unlike most Gibsons, the Marauder used a bolt-on neck. This guitar also used two lower end pickups and an unbound Rosewood fingerboard (maple was used later). The Marauder shared its Les Paul-esque shape with the S-1.
