Thursday, August 4, 2016 - Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) celebrated “Startup Day Across America” at the Reverb.com office. In its fourth year, Startup Day Across America invites Members of Congress to celebrate the ingenuity and entrepreneurship taking place right in their backyards.
“After spending Startup Day with such talented and inspirational entrepreneurs, I am as optimistic as ever about the future of our economy,” said Rep. Mike Quigley. “I hope to continue working with local startups like Reverb.com to find new, creative ways to foster even more small business development and encourage the next generation of business leaders to grow their companies in Chicago.”
While on site, Rep. Quigley met with Reverb CEO David Kalt, among other team members, to discuss Reverb’s success and brainstorm how the the community can support local entrepreneurs with policies and resources that foster innovation and growth.
“We’re thrilled that Congressman Quigley considers Reverb.com a prime example of a forward-thinking, high growth tech company,” said Kalt. “Since we launched Reverb.com in 2013, we’ve seen tremendous growth that has positively impacted not only our employees, but also our sellers who rely on income from our marketplace and the Chicago neighborhood we call home.”
In 2015, Reverb doubled its headcount and this year, the company is on track to far surpass that. The team’s rapid growth follows the continued success of the online musician marketplace. In less than four years, Reverb.com has grown into the world’s most popular music gear website with more than seven million monthly website visits.
Startup Day Across America is a bipartisan, bicameral effort to raise awareness and help generate support for startup communities across the country. Last year, more than three-dozen members of Congress from both parties participated to showcase the role these businesses play in innovation and job creation.
Reverb.com is the online marketplace to buy, sell and learn about new, used, vintage and handmade music gear. Since launching in 2013, Reverb.com has grown into the world’s most popular music gear website with more than seven million monthly website visits. At any given time, the site has roughly half a million listings ranging from electric, acoustic and bass guitars to effects, studio gear, synthesizers, drums, DJ equipment, orchestra instruments and more.
