Monday, November 23, 2020 — Reverb, the largest online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling new, used, and vintage musical instruments, announced that some of the biggest names in music have come together to sell a collection of autographed and/or donated microphones to benefit the next generation of musicians. The Official One Mic Reverb Shop will launch on Giving Tuesday, December 1, with all proceeds going to ten youth music education programs that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Learning and loving music was such a big part of my life growing up. It was my place to be me,” said Amy Lee of Evanescence, who signed an sE Electronics V7 microphone that will be included in the shop. “Musical education builds confidence, inspires imagination, and provides an outlet for self-expression, which is incredibly important for young hearts and minds.”

The Official One Mic Reverb Shop shop will feature nearly 20 microphones, including a limited edition 50th Anniversary Paul McCartney Shure SM58 microphone (#151 of 300 made) donated by Paul McCartney. The remaining mics in the shop are autographed and many artists signed mics they’re known for using, including: A Telefunken M80 microphone signed by John Legend, an sE Electronics V7 microphone signed by Billie Eilish, a Shure SM7B microphone signed by The Weeknd, an Electro Voice RE20 microphone signed by Mavis Staples, and a Sennheiser MD 441-U microphone signed by the members of HAIM.

Bruno Mars, Kesha, Brandon Flowers (The Killers), Leon Bridges, Black Pumas, H.E.R., J Balvin, Alanis Morissette, and Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur) round out the list of legendary artists that autographed mics for The Official One Mic Reverb Shop in support of youth music education. According to Bridges, who signed a Shure SM7B microphone for the shop, “Youth music education is important because it gives kids a strong sense of identity. I can say that for me personally, too.”

Already chronically underfunded, youth music education programs everywhere faced a new set of challenges when confronted with COVID-19 this year. Proceeds from The Official One Mic Reverb Shop will go to ten organizations—AFRORACK, Circles & Ciphers, Class Act Detroit, Guitars Over Guns, Karam Foundation, Old Town School of Folk Music, The Otis Redding Foundation, Today’s Future Sound, Save The Music Foundation, and Women’s Audio Mission—as the continue to pivot their programs to continue supporting their students and communities.

A portion of every sale on Reverb goes to Reverb Gives, which provides youth music programs around the world with the instruments they need to make music. The Official One Mic Reverb Shop was created to provide additional assistance to the next generation of musicians and with the belief that all it takes is one mic—one touchpoint with music—to change a student’s life forever.
