Overview
Originally released in 1947, the Neumann U 47 (also badged as a Telefunken product in the 1950s) was a revolutionary tube microphone design which significantly increased fidelity over earlier "bottle" microphones and offered switchable polar patterns without the need to change capsules. What solidified its place in recorded history was not just its technical advancements, however. An original U 47 produces a larger-than-life tone which will raise the neck hairs of the professional engineer and casual listener alike.

More Information
Used on almost every notable recording of countless bands and artists from the Beatles to Frank Sinatra to modern day superstars, the U 47 is one of the premiere lead vocal microphones, though equally at home on upright bass, acoustic guitars, and percussion instruments. These amazing machines continue to climb in value and have made for some great investments, even as original components become more and more scarce. Here on Reverb you'll find U 47s of all types, from original M7 capsule/VF14M tube configuration to later Nuvister-equipped K47 specimens.
