Sennheiser MD 421 Microphone

Introduced in the early '60s, the Sennheiser MD 421 is a large diaphragm cardioid dynamic microphone that was originally meant as a broadcasting tool. But due to its rugged build, ability to handle high SPLs, and super-accurate bass reproduction, it has become one of the prime vintage microphones engineers turn to for recording kick drums. Though they're great for drums, the MD 421 can be used to great effect with vocals, both musical and otherwise, brass instruments, and any ear-shatteringly loud sounds you can dream up. Quite a handful of famous musicians have been known to use this mic, ranging from Sheryl Crow to Bob Dylan.
