Overview

The Rickenbacker 4000 predates the more famous 4001 by four years. The 4001 was actually introduced as an upgrade to the 4000 with key differences between the models including the use of two pickups on the 4001 as well as triangular inlays and binding on the neck and body. The 4000 remained relatively unchanged from 1964 when the pickup was altered until it was discontinued in 1985.
