In the late '60s, the D-55 was dubbed the TV Model and entered the Guild dreadnought line-up as the flagship model. Though similar in design to the D-50 or D-40, the D-55 features higher-end cosmetic appointments like block inlays, as well as an Ebony bridge and three-piece Mahogany/Maple neck. Like other Guilds, those from before 2001 were produced in Westerly, Rhode Island.

    I have to comment on this. Great guitar. Very balanced sound. This was a used purchase a 2007 in 2018. And the guitar is brand new plastic still on the pickgaurd. I assume it was closeted. But she is loud don't think the wood has come out yet. Seems very tight. Beautiful guitar
