The Country Club was introduced in 1954 as a replacement for the Electro II hollow body. The name Country Club was associated with a wide variety of model numbers, and the entire line was renumbered in 1971 when the Gretsch factory moved from New York to Arkansas. The body depth varied on this model over time, from 3.375 in. to 1.875 in. to 2.875 in. 

The Walnut Stain finish was only offered in 1979.
