Gibson began manufacturing violins in 1939 and had six different models at the peak of production.

The Gibson V-50 Violin was the top of the line model, superceded only by the V-100 in later years. Natural finish models were also produced. Gibson also produced a cherry finish V-25 student model and a 3/4 size student model.
