Gibson Les Paul Recording Walnut 1977

The Les Paul Recording was a replacement for the Les Paul Personal and Les Paul Professional that launched in 1971. All three Les Pauls were designed to incorporate innovative electronic features, and included by two oblong plastic-covered pickups and a more rounded cutaway horn. In addition to the phase control found on the Professional and Personal, the Recording added a high/low impedance selector with an internal transistor  and did away with the XLR output jack. This guitar carries the distinction of being the Les Paul of choice of Les Paul himself.
