Starting in 1973, Gibson reissued the Jumbo 55 (produced from 1939 to 1943) as the J-55 with laminated mahogany back and sides. The J-55 was like the J-45 and J-50 of this era in its square-shoulder body. The J-55 also featured an arched back and double-x style bracing.
