After a break in production, the Flying V came back in 1983. Flying Vs from this era were also referred to as the Flying V 83. This model differed from earlier Flying Vs in its lack of pickguard and its Alder body. It was also available with several optional vibrato tailpieces. 

Years of Production: 1958 - 1959, 1966 - 1980, 1983 - 1988, 1991 - present

Unique to this Year: Rosewood fingerboard made standard in late '83.

Design Elements: Dual uncovered humbuckers, two volume and one tone control, tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece

Finish Specification: Custom finishes such as Purple Burst were available by special order in this era.
