About this listing
The top bargain in vintage 335's is a big neck 65. For the winter and some of the spring of 65, the 335 had the 64 sized neck and, if the pickups have nickel covers, the same pickups as a 64 which are the same as PAFs with a different sticker. A 64 is going to cost you $10K to $20K more-between $30000 and $40,000. The biggest difference is the tailpiece. On a 65 you get the trapeze as opposed to the stop tail (some very early 65's have a stop but not this one). This 65 is mostly original...it once had Grover tuners but now has the original double line Klusons. All hardware is nickel except for the bridge which has had the nylon saddles swapped for metal. Gibson transitioned to all chrome in 65 but they used up the nickel parts first so mixed hardware is common in 65. Neck measures .835" at the first fret and .995" at the twelfth. That's big but not huge. Well, ok, it's huge at the twelfth fret. Nut is 1 11/16". Pickups are sealed early patents-probably the last of them. Condition is 8/10 or so-maybe a little better than that. The correct case is in need of some repair at the headstock end. More photos coming this week.
