Résumé

Initially released in 1968, the Fender Telecaster Bass was meant to replace the old P-Bass from the '50s, but the Tele Bass contained a few key differences that evolved even further over time. Although the Tele Bass' earlier iterations had the single-coil pickup customary of the P-Bass, Fender gave the Telecaster Bass a humbucker in 1972, bringing the model closer to that of a Tele Deluxe. A few famous players have picked up the Fender Tele Bass, like ZZ Top's Dusty Hill and Dinosaur Jr's Lou Barlow.

the bass is amazing. i've never played a bass with a humbucker, but it's amazing how loud and distinct the sound of the bass is. i run it through an orange ad200b with a whack of different pedals and i'm very happy. the history of the bass is very cool also, as i've read it's the first reissue of …

  • I have the same Bass in Sunburst (I know they didn't come that way, but they made it custom for me). I also ordered mine with double humbucking pickups. What a beautiful sound. I noticed the guard at the bottom is gone on yours. A lot of guys would take those off to change the sound. Should put it back.

Nothing, absolutely nothing you've ever played has the sheer chutzpah of Fender's 1972+ Telecaster Bass. It's smooth, it's powerful, and it'll shake your fillings loose while you're grinning ear to ear. The powerful humbucker has a unique, deep velvety sound with the signature Fender growl that's …
