Unlike its 6-string counterpart, the Starcaster Bass never made it out of the prototype phase at Fender. As a result, only three Starcaster Basses have ever been document, and one of them was reported to have been destroyed in a fire. The Starcaster Bass, therefore, is an extremely rare bass and of great interest to collectors of lesser-known Fenders.
