As the first production model bass guitar, the Fender Precision bass was an absolutely revolutionary instrument upon its introduction in 1951. In the early '90s, began making more and more of its models in its new Mexican factory which were dubbed the Standard. Instruments like the Standard Precision Bass that are made in Mexico are also referred to as MIM.
