About this listing
1962 Fender Bandmaster 6G7-A head. The power transformer and choke are original 1962, but the output transformer is a 1966 replacement. It has a safe 3-prong cord and had a filter cap job in 2012. It comes with a homemade 2x12 cabinet built to Bandmaster dimensions with a pair of Jensen C12N reissue speakers purchased new in 2018.Modifications:Added 1 ohm resistors from power tube cathode pins to ground in order to check the no signal bias currents in each tube to verify how well they are matched, and also to adjust the power tube grid bias voltage. Changed 15k bias resistor to 22k which reduced the power tubes' idle current from a hot 35mA down to a safer ~25.7mA to operate cleanly without running too hot or introducing hum.RecordingsInputs: 2 channels, each with high & low sensitivity input jacksOutput: 40 WattsForm: Piggyback ("head")Controls: Each channel: Volume, Treble, Bass; Vibrato channel also: Speed, Intensity; master PresenceCircuit/Model: 6G7-AChassis serial number 5437749000 to 58000 = 1962“Speed” potentiometer 70-2125-0015 Rev AUD 304-6215304 = Stackpole 62=1962 15 = 15th week of 1962Black Power transformer 125P7A 606213606 = Schumacher 2=1962 13 = 13th week of 1962Power supply choke 125C1A 606213606 = Schumacher 2=1962 13 = 13th week of 1962Output transformer 022848 606-6-42606 = Schumacher 6=1966 42 = 42nd week of 1966Original white Tolex was replacedOriginal Oxblood or Wheat grille cloth replacedReplaced electrolytic capacitors and replace 2 prong plug with 3 prong one.
