Fender American Series Stratocaster Ash Body Natural 1997

Since its debut in 1954, the Fender Stratocaster has been arguably the most popular guitar ever made.

After Fender employees bought the company back from CBS in the 1980s, a new American-made Strat was manufactured, known as the American Standard Stratocaster. It came with a variety of finishes and options.

The Natural Ash finish was offered from 1998 - 2000 and draws a slightly higher value on the market. While most American Standards used Alder for the body, the original wood used in 1954 was Ash. Since then, Fender has periodically offered special models that use Ash as the body wood.

Years of Production: 1986 - 2000
