Fun pedal! Too bad I am still a lousy player; didn't fix that.

  • Psychedelic Funk Machine.

As others have pointed out, it's a unique effect on it's own, and is often limited by everyone's impression of how it should be used, but when you add an expression pedal, it turns into a psych/funk power house.

  • Volume Problem

The thing that bothers me about the Boss AW-3 is the volume drop when it’s engaged. The sounds are nice... I bought it for the touch wah function. The sensitivity control has a great range, but that volume drop makes this pedal useless for me.

  • Has some good tones

The vowel settings are interesting but I have not found any good applications formy gigging. All the wah features are solid as is the unit. Typical Boss rigorous construction. Stacks nice in front of distortion pedals and bypass works like it should.

  • It works well but is a very focused sound.

This suffers a lot from the "Special Sound" problem where the pedal is only useable once in a great while because it sounds is SOOO signature. I bought the MD 500 instead and the sound in included. A much better approach for me. It you like dynamic Wah's a lot, then this would be a great pedal for you.
