Overview
Alvarez guitars date back to 1965 when St. Louis Music began importing guitars built by luthier Kazuo Yairi from Japan. While Yairi made a number of higher-end guitars for Alvarez (referred to Alvarez-Yairi or just Yairi guitars), many of Alvarez's instruments were lower-end or budget models. The 5059 was a Martin-like dreadnought.
