Video: Massive FX Pedals G.O.A.F. Fuzz Demo

Andy had a chance to sit down with the G.O.A.F. (or, Golden Order of Alchemist Fuzz) from Massive FX to see what sounds he could get from this powerhouse stompbox. The pedal features two footswitches—one with the red LED for the Fuzz circuit and the other with the green LED for the Vintage Octave circuit.

The pedal also sports four rather unconventionally labeled pots that control a variety of parameters. The Deniro symbol is for master volume, the Moon signifies the tone shape/balance/mids control, the Alchemical Lead symbol is for fuzz/sustain, and the Alchemical Tin symbol is for timbre/tone/attack.

The G.O.A.F. is a handwired homage to one of Robert Fripp's favorite pedals, the Burns Buzzaround, but with the additional vintage-style octave circuit. As you can hear in the video above, the fuzz is deep, with defining buzzy and trebly tones.

You can use either circuit by itself or in tandem, but one odd thing to note is that, though you can use the Octave circuit by itself, the master volume won't adjust without the Fuzz turned on.

With only an estimated 50 Burns Buzzarounds still around today, the G.O.A.F. is a great option for those looking to capture Fripp's legendary '70s tone in a handmade, hand-wired package for far less than what you'd pay to own an original.
