Boss pedals have been such a fixture on pedalboards for decades that it's almost impossible to believe that there could be some Boss effects you've never heard of.
But because of the form factor of the Boss Micro Rack series you very well could have missed them.
Like the name suggests, the Micro Rack effects are half-sized rack units. Developed by Boss in the mid-'80s, they were created not just with guitarists in mind but also synthesists and vocalists.
There's something for every taste in the range: digital delays, a pitch shifter, reverb, a sampler. And while some gear heads have spiked prices on a few select models, most of the Micro Rack series can be found on the used market for less money than stompboxes from that era.
We got our hands on the full Micro Rack lineup, and fell in love. The 12 effects in total, along with a power supply, are:
