One of the most interesting ways to learn a lot about a guitarist fairly quickly is to ask them how they practice. We've challenged Reverb resident Joe Shadid with this charge across a variety of artists this past year, from Ariel Posen to Orianthi to Cory Wong and more.
Each guitarist's practice routine has been defined by something unique, whether it's emphasizing fundamentals or perfecting lightning-fast triplet runs. For this episode, what defines the artist's practice routine is peace.
"The warm-up routine of Yasmin Williams is super special, almost spiritual in some ways," Joe says. "With Yasmin, it's just been peaceful. The word that I would associate with this has been peaceful. It's been very soothing—a wonderful way to start the day, to start your session, to start your practice. And there's been some extended technique stuff that I've never tried to do before."
Equipped with a new G-Writer acoustic model from Gibson's Generation Collection, watch Joe hop on a call with Yasmin Williams in the video above and learn to tackle her practice routine—including some particularly unique finger-tapping-style exercises played with the guitar laying across your lap.
