Video: DigiTech SDRUM Demo

These days, modern guitarists have all sorts of options when looking to expand their practice routine beyond the sound of a single guitar part. Loop pedals are a popular option if you're trying to work out a more elaborate composition, while the vast world drum machines, sequencers, and software options can create virtually any backing track to play against.

The new SDRUM from DigiTech essentially combines the sonic potential of a drum machine with the conveninece and intuativeness of a loop pedal.

This pedal uses proprietary "BeatScratch" technology to detect and build drum accompaniments based on what you play on your guitar. It detects high and low strings and assigns a kick and snare parts accordingly which allow this little box to create automatic accompaniment to your strumming rhythms.

For those who have a better idea of what they want, the customization options are endless, and users can control the tempo, intensity, groove, and sounds of the accompaniment. The SDRUM's memory bank will hold up to 36 songs, so you can save those ideas to show your band later. It even features two pads on the front that let more tactile-leaning users create their drum track with their hands.

Check out the video above for a more in-depth look at what the DigiTech SDRUM can do.
