Video: Daniel Donato Teaches Jerry Garcia-Style Chromatic Riffs

Last week, Nashville Tele ace Daniel Donato gave us an overview of his particular hybrid picking style. In this week's video, Mr. Donato gets a little deeper with an exploration of chromaticism and, specifically, how chromaticism can factor into country-style playing.

Starting with an explanation of the importance of knowing your pentatonic boxes, Daniel illustrates a particularly saucy chromatic riff that draws largely on the style of Jerry Garcia. Watch the video above for a step-by-step breakdown of this move and the fretboard theory around it.
