In previous months, we've launched official Reverb Shops with Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge, two of three foundational members of blink-182. Today, we're excited to announce that Travis Barker—the drummer who rose to fame with blink and is now a torch-bearer of pop-punk for a new generation of artists and fans—will be opening a shop too.
On Wednesday, May 26, The Official Travis Barker Reverb Shop will open its doors, with more than 100 items including drum kits, drum machines, keyboards, and more than two dozen rare and vintage boomboxes from his extensive collection.
One specific set of drums is an Orange County Drums & Percussion set Barker called the "Evel Knievel Kit," which he played in the music video for blink-182's "Adam's Song." "It's almost too special to me and it feels weird to drag it back out on tour or to even play it in the studio. It's really a timepiece and I can't wait to see who ends up with it," Barker says.
Another Orange County kit—used in the Box Car Racer "I Feel So" music video—will be for sale too. This set has a custom paint job from Troy Lee of bike gear brand Troy Lee Designs. "It has the coolest pinstriping and hot rod art on it. It is a very special kit to me," Barker says.
But these kits are just two of the more than one hundred pieces that will be for sale in The Official Travis Barker Reverb Shop. Others include:
- Keyboards used in Barker's production work with Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Wayne, Yungblud, iann dior, and more. According to Barker, the keyboards have traveled around the world with him. "I like to bring a mini studio everywhere I go on tour. So they've been to Europe, they've been all over the United States… they've been all over the world, really."
- Six electronic drum kits, which Barker used on his first solo album, Give the Drummer Some. "I didn't know how to program or sequence yet, so everything on that album was played with just a ton of loops on these electronic kits," said Barker. "I also liked touring with these and putting them in my dressing rooms. I would sit back and practice for hours before I'd actually go out on stage. I still use some of these drum kits to this day—I just had multiples, so that's why I'm offering them to you guys."
- A Squier Mustang Bass and a Squier Jazz Bass. "Bass is my favorite thing to play because I'm not good enough to play guitar yet," Barker said.
- Dozens of other items from Barker's personal collection, including a Yamaha Club Jordan Cocktail drum kit, bongos, turntables, congas, wind chimes, a steel drum, and a glockenspiel.
"I just moved into my new studio and I've got to part with a bunch of equipment to make space," Barker says. "There's a lot of cool instruments here, including drums kits, drum machines, keyboards, and more, that I would like to pass on to the next generation to make lots of great music with it."
